Thank you and Goodbye Seattle Cancer Care Alliance!!

Kalan was discharged from the Hutch today!!! We are so grateful to our amazing medical team for their care, encouragement, and expertise. We truly are so lucky to live so close to such a healing place.

And....we leave the Hutch incredibly hopeful! We just found out that Kalan's new marrow is now at 99% and that the mass shrunk even more since the scan last month. Now we know that the transplant is working and are told that after it starts it usually doesn't stop. Kalan will return to his doctor at Northwest Hospital for regular appointments to watch out for any lingering side effects from the transplant and to make sure the cancer stays away. It will definitely be less intense and allow more room and energy for "normal life."

Thank you for celebrating with us! So much love to you all!

Love, J and K

One Month

Kalan is one month post transplant and doing great! We got the amazingly good news today that his body accepted the new marrow! This means that he is well on his way to having a new immune system that will attack the cancer cells. What a relief!!!!!!! His marrow is now 95% from Micaela, which she pointed out means that he is only 5% away from perfection--we agree!!!

What a great way to start the weekend--have a great one!

Much love!

Day 17

Hi friends and fam,

Just a quick update--K continues to be doing amazingly well 17 days post transplant. His blood counts dropped due to the chemo/radiation as expected and they have started to climb back up right on schedule. We are very hopeful that this means that his new transplanted stem cells have taken over. We'll know more the first week of February after a bone marrow biopsy. And yes......he's still working more than full time and kickin' butt in school (not to mention pres of the Puget Sound Engineering Council, loving husband, ASME member of government relations, etc., etc., etc............)

Lots of love!

Transplant day visitors

Molly and Sarah came by the Hutch to give Unk Unk some love during his transplant. Look at the 3 cuties!!

Day 8

Hi all,

So sorry for the lapse in posts--it's been a crazy time in the Guiley household. Kalan had his bone marrow/stem cell transplant on January 5th and is doing amazingly well. This transplant is WAY easier on Kalan (and Jennie, too!) than the last and we are incredibly hopeful. As of a week before transplant, Kalan's latest scan results showed "NO EVIDENCE OF DISEASE!" The transplant will track down the last few lingering cancer cells and blast them away.

We are incredibly thankful to Kalan's amazing sister, Micaela, for her bone marrow donation. What a life saver!!! We love you Micaela!!!

More to come......

Lots of love!
